A Beginner & Parent Guide
Trying something new can feel intimidating especially when it involves dirt bikes. Whether you’re a parent signing up your child for their first ride or an adult finally checking “learn to ride” off your bucket list, knowing what to expect makes all the difference.
At Dirt Bike Training, our goal is simple: make dirt bike riding safe, structured, and fun from day one. Here’s exactly what your first class looks like.
Who Our Training Is For?
Our beginner programs are designed for:
Kids who have never ridden before
Kids with some experience who need better fundamentals
Adults learning to ride for the first time
Riders who want more confidence, control, and safety
No experience required. Zero pressure. Everyone progresses at their own pace.
Do You Need Your Own Bike or Gear?
Nope.
We provide:
Dirt bikes sized for each rider
Helmets, boots, and protective gear
Properly maintained and beginner-friendly equipment
If you do have your own bike and gear, you’re welcome to bring it—but it’s absolutely not required.
What Happens When You Arrive
Here’s how a typical beginner session runs:
1. Check-In & Gear Fitting
We make sure every rider has properly fitting safety gear and the right bike for their size and experience.
2. Bike Introduction
Before riding, we explain:
How the bike works
Throttle and brakes
Starting, stopping, and basic controls
This helps riders feel comfortable before the engine starts.
3. On-Bike Coaching
Riders start slowly and build skills step by step. Coaches are:
On the track
Giving real-time feedback
Adjusting instruction based on each rider
4. Breaks & Progression
We take breaks as needed and progress only when the rider is ready. Confidence comes first.
Safety Is Always the Priority
We hear this question a lot: “Is dirt bike riding safe?”
Our answer: It is when it’s taught correctly.
We focus on:
Small group sizes
Controlled training environments
Age-appropriate bikes
Hands-on coaching (not just supervision)
Falling can happen—but we teach riders how to ride in control and minimize risk from the start.
What If My Child Is Nervous?
Totally normal and very common.
We never force riders to do anything they’re not ready for. Many kids start hesitant and finish the session smiling, confident, and asking when they can come back.
Our coaches specialize in helping nervous riders feel comfortable at their own pace.
What Riders Learn in Their First Session
By the end of a beginner class, most riders learn:
Proper throttle control
Braking techniques
Balance and body positioning
How to ride safely and confidently
Even one session can make a huge difference.
What Comes After the First Class?
Once riders complete a beginner session, many continue with:
Beginner track sessions
Multi-day camps
Private lessons
Ongoing skill progression programs
We’ll always guide you toward the best next step—no pressure, no upselling.
